WJ-SPOTS#1: 15 years of artistic creation on the Internet

« 15 years of artistic creation on the Internet »

Artists, critics, thinkers, inventors, researchers, curators,  organizers and producers of  cultural events are invited to  trace the history of the internet.
Through an artistic angle they comment and analyse how Internet has been taken over as  a space of creation from its  beginning until now : online  creation, sofware art, code art,  ascii art, flash art, google art,  générative art, interactive art,  collaborative art, tactical media,  locative media, telematic art,  network performances…

The interviews are done inside  the WJ-S multi screen  environment (www.wj-s.org)  allowing an immersive experience through a real time and online navigation browsing into a selection of websites chosen by each speaker. The whole environment offers a multitude of points of views, like an augmented vision of the thought.

(each participant has 15 minutes altogether to answer the following questions)

1 Who are you ? can you tell us in a few words what you have been doing these last years ?

2 You have been involved in network activities or netbased projects for many years. From an artistic perspective, what has happened in this field? what have you witnessed or found interesting about the internet ?
What is your experience and feeling about the birth and the adolescence of the internet ?

3 From a social, political, artistic or philosophical point of view. what is the impact of this concept of network ? How has the Internet and the idea of network changed your attitude and practice, your relation to space and time and the way we behave, work, think, share, exchange, collaborate, create… ?

4 In the future do you think internet will still be an interesting territory to explore ? Do you think it can be a fertile space for creation? Do you think it will produce some kind of interesting artistic mutating forms where the physical world and the virtual world can hybride, mutate, merge, fuse or collide ?
