BETONSALON

Main Missions

Aims

Bétonsalon is committed to developing a space for reflection and confrontation at the confluence of art and university research, giving forms to discourse of the aesthetic, cultural, political, social or economic orders. Over the years Bétonsalon has experimented with different formats: exhibitions, workshops, conferences, seminars, publications, guided neighbourhood tours, festivals and residencies, developed in process-based, collaborative and discursive ways, according to different time scales and in cooperation with a variety of local, national and international organisations. Bétonsalon is an association under the (French) law of 1901, created in 2003 and transformed into a center for art and research in 2007. An integral part of the Paris 7 university, in the heart of a neighbourhood undergoing reconstruction, the ZAC Paris Left Bank in the 13th district of Paris, Bétonsalon offers a program that is linked to its context, seeking to be associated with the area’s cultural actors, researchers, students, teachers, inhabitants and workers.
