ACCÈS(S)

Main Missions

Aims

accès (s) considers technologies from an artistic and anthropological point of view. Beyond a purely technical approach, accès (s) favours artistic practices that question the effects of the spread of technology throughout our cultures and societies. It presents this artistic genre through the spirit that animates it. accès (s) explores the relationships we have with our spaces and the temporalities of our lives, with our bodies, our history and our planet, with ourselves and the world, in an era of global exchange. The cultural approach to electronic creation, the conducting thread of the accès (s) project, induces a historical perspective. Since its origin, the association has considered electronic cultures not as ex nihilo, but in relation to history, culture and art. Away from traditional forms of representation, artistic approaches related to new technologies invent new aesthetic forms combining plasticity, sound and motion. The accès (s) project is based on this diversity, a major feature of electronic culture. The accès (s) project is spread throughout the year. Several events are presented from January to June, while the accès (s) festival takes place every year in autumn and takes over the city and its suburbs for several days. The project unfolds through a program of exhibitions, concerts and performances, screenings, meetings, conferences and workshops dedicated to practices, artists and some of the most significant thinkers of today, from various countries and all disciplines. accès(s) is an association under the (French) law of 1901, whose action is to promote contemporary creation related to electronic culture and the issues it raises. accès(s) wishes to promote the notion of accessibility of the cultural and artistic practices that the association has seen as central since its foundation. accès(s) explores, experiments and reports on artistic approaches that demonstrate acuity in the face of the contemporary world, through the events it undertakes, the artists it supports and events that it offers to the public. Born in 2000 from the fusion of individual energies coming from the city's different cultural structures, the accès(s) project has grown with the major constraint of not having its own venue. Its action is based on partnerships with cultural co-producers involved in both the production and dissemination of works, development of public awareness, and a territorial vision of the project.
