Who are we ?
The festival Les Instants Vidéo (international video art and multimedia festival) wants to be a space/time where destinies come across each other, where new cartographies of creation can be woven, where new lines can be opened in direction to new comets...
Les Instants Vidéo Numériques et poétiques is a non-profit art organisation (association law 1901). It inherited from the Festival founded in 1988 in Manosque (Department of Alpes de Haute Provence). Since 2004, it is based in Marseille and cultivates nomadism. We are always looking for the encounters of publics and artists that we like to name the electronic poets.
What we aim to
Support and promote video art and multimedia creation
￫ with the multiplication of number of screenings all the year long, in France and abroad,
￫ with the diversification of the places/spaces where we present our programs (cinemas, galleries, universities, schools of arts, prisons, theatres, museums, social centres, schools, media libraries....) and with a deep complicity of our partners,
￫ with publishing (the magazines BREF, 24 Images, artists biographies...),
￫ with the organisation of theoretical and practical training,
￫ with forging the mobility and the fellowship/connection of the works of art and the artists,
￫ with the development of audiences, awared, interested, critical and lively.
Favorise the encounters audiences-works of art-artists, as an invitation to see and think the world, to cross the glances, sharing knowledge, experiences, understanding, imagination of the other, of elsewhere.
What we do
All the year long, we are making stops in France and abroad, to lead the following activities:
￫ the festival Les Instants Vidéo nomad, every year in autumn (in 2010, it was 7 countries, 14 towns, 32 different spaces, 512 works of art coming from 48 countries, and more than 50 artists invited),
￫ workshops of awareness and of creation, as laboratories of experimentation, inspiration and education,
￫ conferences about the history of video art and about the international creation,
international screenings that we always accompany and which are written as poems,
￫ development of methods of preservation, archiving and dissemination of multimedia arts ( 4616 referenced works of arts by more than 2500 artists),
￫ (inter)national cooperations shaped like a constellation, in which the artistic creation is approach as an essential component of the society, dealing with social, political and cultural issues.
Who are the members ?
The activities of the association are made possible thanks to the commitment of the volunteers, whose competencies and sensitivities are multiple: education, arts, culture, social work, and who are involved in the daily life of the structure as well as in the artistic project, together with the more permanent team.

Call for participation 2017: 30th Festival Les Instants Vidéo
Deadline: June, 3rd 2017
The Festival Instants Vidéo is an event dedicated to video art and electronic poetry with its multiple forms, monobands, installations, performances, multimedia…
OUR DESIRES ARE DISORDERS
Dear artists, filmmakers, poets and performers,
What could we do together for the 30th anniversary of the festival?
To express our determination for more life force, more struggle, more troublemakers than ever.
To be 30 in 2017!
A hundred years ago, there was a revolution that shook the world and raised a huge hope in the heart of oppressed humanity. But while its social and political project didn’t keep its promises, it was all the opposite for the artistic and poetic avant-gardes which grew in the turmoil of the beginning of the 20th century. Video art is the indomitable daughter of these creative passions.
Disoriented by the market ideology that creates oblivion, very few people still remember these artists who wanted to destroy old languages in order to open new possibles. We will pay tribute to the one who best embodied these revolutionary passions that are so much needed in our fruitless time, the electronic poet Gianni Toti, who passed away 10 years ago.
Since their creation, Les Instants Vidéo heard many prophetic voices announcing the death of video arts buried in short-lived concepts such as moving images, digital art…
Video art never stopped meeting with all the image technologies, all the artistic fields, all the styles, not to move along with the times and the aesthetic trends, but to play with them. To exult a Slap in the Face of well-behaved, modelled, self-satisfied Public Taste. This is the reason why we will also homage to Jacques Rouxel, the father of Les Shadoks: “To reduce the numbers of unhappy people, always beat up the same individuals.”
So, Video art is a state of mind.
Wether you are a video, digital or experimental artist, an electronic poet, a performer, a shadok, a revolutionary activist, a dogmatic lover of freedom, a dancer on the stars, a reveller, a rascal or a dreamer of unexplored sensualities, there we will never be too many of us to blow the candles of a festival which only goal is to walk along with desires that are disorders.
